Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

McLaren drivers in action — Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.

The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who took the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.

Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.

Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the fence.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.

The seven-time champion wrapped up in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.

The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
